If you would like to participate in your Town's Republican Caucus but you are registered as anything other than Republican, you must change your Party affiliation at your Town Office fifteen days prior to your Town's Caucus date. If you are not yet registered to vote, you may Register at your Town office or at your town caucus to participate in your local Town Committee.
Your Republican Committee's Town By-laws will be ratified at your Town's Caucus. Please familiarize yourself with your town's by-laws and note any changes you would like to see. Please note that by-laws cannot be revised during the State Convention.
If your town does not have an active Committee, please consider starting one. Click Town Committees, to see which seats in your town should be filled! This is the only way we have a chance to fill and unseat some other parties, and return Maine to The Way Life Should Be. Caucus day is the time to form a Committee, which will also allow you to participate in the Maine Republican Convention.
Ed Harmon, President of Boothbay V.E.T.S. (Veterans Emergency Temporary Shelter), and Vice President Arthur Richardson addressed the October LCRC meeting in Boothbay. Ed spoke at length about his grassroots efforts to help homeless veterans. What they have accomplished starting only with an idea and no funding is a tribute to Maine ingenuity, perseverance, and work effort.
It started with a refurbished trailer and has progressed to retrofitting new utility trailers into miniature homes. Presently there are 17 units all over Maine with 4 under construction and efforts in place to expand their construction site, raise more money, and to construct and place more units. It was an inspirational story of dedicated and motivated people – a Mother Teresa story set in Maine told by a 6-tour Vietnam Veteran complete with stories of tears, gratitude, and even disbelief from the recipients and of lives being changed.
Ed is willing to speak to any group upon request. Contact Ed at boothbayvets@protonmail.com . Click on the photo to visit their website.
