The Augusta Civic Center was filled to capacity on April 26 and 27, with over 1400 delegates attending the Maine GOP Convention. The theme of the convention was “Restoring Freedom”. Members of Maine’s House and Senate, legislative candidates and dignitaries spoke throughout the event. We have some very bright, experienced and motivated candidates - every Republican should be very proud!
The new 2024 Maine Republican Platform was discussed, amended and approved. Highlights include promoting parental rights to protect children in grades K-12, eliminating the 100 megawatt limit on hydropower to allow the use of clean Canadian hydro to reduce electrical rates, protecting Maine girls in sports by ensuring that only biological females compete on female teams, encouraging sound fiscal management to reduce the Maine tax burden, securing Maine’s border and require immigration laws be enforced, and requiring the U.S. Congress to declare war before our Maine’s National Guard is sent abroad to fight in another undeclared war. The final 2024 platform is available on the Maine GOP website.
Robert Charles, a former Assistant Secretary of State under Colin Powell, White House staffer, attorney, and naval intelligence officer (USNR) delivered the keynote address. The subject was a discussion on the importance of respectful, fair, open, and truthful discussions to chart a nation’s course in a way that creates unity rather than dissention.
A National Committeeman and Committeewoman were elected, David Whitney and Laurel LePage respectively.
Lincoln County then met and caucused. A new State Committeewoman, Becky Stevens, and a new State Committeeman, Bill Morrison, were elected to join County Chair, Patty Minerich in representing the Lincoln County at the Maine GOP.
Thank you all for attending!

On Saturday, Feb. 10, Lincoln County Republicans hosted a delightful and traditional event honoring Abraham Lincoln the first elected Republican President. If you were unable to attend you missed a truly meaningful event.
The entertainment: the Windjammers Barbershop Quartet were delightful, the invocation offered by Pastor Jon Vermilion was inspirational, and guest speakers, Colin McWay, author and historian, was thought-provoking and finally House Minority Leader, Billy Bob Faulkingham, who was extremely informative. And the food was great!

The Lincoln County Republican Committee's annual Lincoln Day event is a tradition where we celebrate Abraham Lincoln as the first elected president of the Republican Party who helped found and shape the party.
This year's brunch event will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at The 1812 Farm, 1297 Bristol Road, Bristol. We are very fortunate to be able to hold ticket prices at last year's level of $60 per person. The event begins at 11:00 AM and brunch begins at 11:45. We are finalizing program details and will share in a follow-up communication.
Our special guest speakers will be State Representative Billy Bob Faulkingham and Colin McWay.
William 'Billy Bob' Faulkingham is a 4th generation fisherman of Winter Harbor. As a three-year-old child, he was already accompanying his dad on the family fishing boat. He is not only knowledgeable about fishing, but has served in the Maine House since 2018. He currently holds the position of House Minority Leader.
Colin McWay spent most of his career in telecommunications, specializing in tactical communications for first responders, Homeland Security and Special Operations. Colin is also an historian, and author of the book 'A Citizen on the Constitution, Consent and Communism'. Colin continues to be an advocate for liberty.
Lincoln County Republicans held their Lincoln Day Dinner at the 1812 Farm in Bristol on February 11. The annual event celebrated the accomplishments of President Lincoln in word and song and was attended by well over 100 people.
Elected in November 1860 as our first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln helped abolish slavery and unite the Union after the Civil War. Lincoln was celebrated for his writings, wisdom and rhetoric. Dressed in period attire, children from a local family movingly read the Gettysburg Address. The reading spoke to the Civil War, the purpose, the sacrifice, and the hope for healing. Republicans can be proud of our first Republican President, the sacrifice of the Union Army, and in particular, the sacrifice of Mainers who fought to remedy a great wrong. In many ways the Address speaks today to the heart of our nation and our hope for the future.
Musical selections were offered throughout the evening. Silence and pure respect filled the room as veterans saluted and hands were placed over hearts as Steve Karp of Waldoboro played The National Anthem on his violin. The children also offered a stirring rendition of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” followed by a standing ovation. The room was filled with song as we joined Tim Connolly in singing “God Bless America” and “Proud to Be an American.”
Speakers for the evening were Steve Robinson, Editor of The Maine Wire and Heidi Sampson, State Representative from Alfred. Government overreach in Maine was an overriding theme in both speeches. Steve spoke about the lack of fiscal responsibility in our State, the state of education and the poor testing scores of our students. He also shared The Maine Wire’s plans for the future! Heidi Sampson serves on the Education Committee and spoke solely on what is happening in our schools relating to the infiltration of the woke progressive agenda and how its negative impact is affecting our children’s education, their socialization, and their emotional growth.
Over all, the gathering provided time for old and new friends to reconnect and pay tribute to Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President. Patriotism is alive and well!
