In only a few days, the Democrats who shut down your business, fired you for not taking an experimental vaccine, hampered your career, took away your rights as parents, teaching your minor children trans education while Maine is almost last in the country for education, presented a bill to legalize all drugs (including heroin & cocaine), created and passed 2,400 new laws, removed the property tax credit for Seniors, pushed American Citizens and Veterans to the back of the line to give housing to illegal immigrants - will be asking that you re-elect them so they can keep their seats in Augusta.
Never forget what they did to you and don't give them the chance to continue. Vote Republican, and change the course.
MARY LOU DAXLAND
My husband Karl and I reside in Newcastle. We have owned property in Maine for over 25 years and have spent many days in this beautiful State prior to moving here year-round.
I am a fiscal and a social conservative who will not waffle on the principles that I believe in.
In MA I was involved in politics for over a decade. I was a Town Committee Chair, a State Committeewoman, and the president of the MA Republican Assembly.
I am currently a member of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies Board of Directors and I am the Vice President of the MERA. I write for the Boston Broadside – the only monthly conservative paper in New England.
I believe the 2024 election is going to be the most important election in our lifetime. Here in Maine our Freedoms and Rights are slipping away at a rapid pace. The Democrats are in control and they are passing legislation that will over-tax us, dictate what kind of car we drive, how we heat our homes, and indoctrinate our public-school children without parental consent.
Never did I think, dream, or consider running for State office. But seeing how close the Republicans are to taking control of the State House, I feel I must step up and run. Frankly, I want to be part of that takeover of the House. I am up against a 2-TERM incumbent. It will not be easy. There are so many liberal issues we need to push back against in Augusta.
We need to return common-sense legislation to the Augusta Statehouse. Debating to change the Maine State Flag should not be a priority when Mainers are suffering.
100 million dollars was passed for affordable housing last year The question is how much of it will be allocated to Veterans and Mainers? We need affordable housing for Veterans and Mainers first.
Right here in District 46 last year, a child was led to change their gender without their parents’ consent. We need to Defend Parents' Rights that protect their child.
Maine public school students’ test scores are going down every year. Last year 8th grade math scores dropped to their lowest level since 1992. Education funding has increased but test scores continue to fall. Maine Public Schools need to return to the basics of reading, writing, and math.
I am sure that everyone knows of someone who has died from a drug overdose. State figures released last year indicate 631 Mainers died from a drug overdose in 2021 and 716 in 2022. 2023 figures have not yet been released. We need laws that support strict penalties for Drug Trafficking. My opponent this past January sponsored LD 1975 which would LEGALIZE all drugs. That includes heroin and cocaine. I think we all can agree this is not common-sense legislation.
I am a Maine Clean Election Candidate. I must collect $5 from 60 voters in the district to receive funding of approximately $6,000. I am asking you to please help me reach that goal. I humbly ask for your $5 donation and your vote.

Thank you.
JAMES W. HUNT
My name is Bill Hunt, I am running for State Representative in House District 48 representing Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol, Southport, and Westport. For those of you who may not know me, I grew up spending my summers on Southport, went to Bates College, and have spent most of my adult life as a Maine resident. I have always considered this area my home. I returned full-time to Southport in 2022 after a five year “exile” in Minnesota. I have had a 35-year career as a successful technology executive and entrepreneur, having founded or co-founded companies creating hundreds of jobs in several states.
I have always had an interest in politics. I majored in Political Science at Bates where I served as Chairman of the College Republicans and served a term as President of the Maine College Republicans. I was a member of then Congresswoman Olympia Snowe’s campaign staff in 1983-84 and was an intern in Senator William Cohen’s office. It is possible that you have seen letters to the editor of the Boothbay Register from me over the years. I am a Benefactor Life Member of the NRA, a member of Heritage Foundation, and the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, among many others. For over 25 years I have served as a member of the Junior Program Committee at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, helping to provide sailing and tennis programs to local youth.
I have become increasingly concerned by the actions of the state government over the past few years. Having run businesses here, I know that Maine has never been a particularly easy state in which to do business. The Democrats in Augusta seem determined to make it harder than ever. Last year the legislature passed a staggering 450 new laws! I couldn’t believe that number when I saw it. Our current representative voted for most of these with consistent support for increased government
spending and business regulation. She voted for the most extreme abortion law in the country and recently even voted to make our votes for President count only if they happen to match the desires of California, New York, Oregon, Washington, and Illinois.
I believe that the people of Maine are best when trusted to do the right thing for themselves rather than having Augusta decide. We can decide what kind of car we want to drive. We don’t need Augusta dictating our choices. We can decide how to cook our food and heat or cool our homes. We also need to have control of our children’s education. Our schools need to return to a focus on basic skills and support learning trades. They also need to teach basic right from wrong and a respect for others that is sadly lacking. Perhaps there would be fewer murders if our youth respected others’
right to live. When I was growing up, we had gun clubs at schools and rifles in our trucks, but there were no school shootings. Personal responsibility is something we have lost. All of these and more are why I am running for the legislature.
I would love to get your thoughts and concerns about what we need to be doing differently in Augusta. Maine’s Clean Election law limits donations to $5 and requires me to gather a significant number of $5 contributions by April 22nd. You can contribute $5 by going to www.maine.gov/cleanelections .

Dale Harmon has served the Town of Boothbay for the past 16 years, delivering quality services while keeping an eye on the bottom line. He's worked 24 years with the Boothbay Region Water District, and knows all too well our infrastructure challenges and the need to invest in conservation and preservation. Born and raised in this District, Dale is committed to fighting for the industries and hard-working Mainers that are the backbone of our great State.
More and more Mainers are falling behind, yet little is being done to lower energy costs, reduce taxes, or help our coastal industries. I was born here and have served Boothbay as a selectperson for the last 16 years. I'm ready to get to work tackling these challenges and making Maine more affordable for everyone. I'd be honored to earn your vote." Thank you, Dale Harmon

Ron is running against Shelly Pingree for for the Maine Congressional seat in D1. Ron grew up in Fort Fairfield and as the son of a potato farmer, he learned the value of hard work, thriftiness and honesty on the farm. He graduated from West Point in '76 during our Nation's 200th anniversary. He later served as a Green Beret and started his own business as a defense contractor..
Ron currently resides in Kennebunkport. He expressed concern about the flow of illegal immigrants into Maine and their associated costs to the Maine taxpayer. He feels that the border needs to be closed and the financial incentives that draw them here need to end. Ron is a proponent of energy independence. Like most conservatives, he is very pro police/first responders and shares our concern about our nation’s military readiness. Ron stressed the importance of education and getting back to meritocracy.
You can learn more about Ron and contribute to his campaign at his website.
